Forest and hill setting

The Gauja valley has forest cabins and guesthouses, and a barrel sauna adds an attraction for visitors. In winter the snow makes the hot cabin even more inviting.

Leave enough room for logs and a path cleared of snow.

Castle town and active holidays

Cēsis is a small town with a medieval castle, a well-preserved old centre and a busy calendar of events. The surrounding countryside is popular for hiking, cycling and skiing, so a sauna is a natural place to relax afterwards.

For homeowners, a barrel sauna can stand in the garden among fruit trees. For guesthouses, it provides a feature that guests remember.

Roads in the region can be unsurfaced in places. Tell us if the last stretch is a gravel lane so we can plan the delivery.

A guesthouse feature

If you run a guesthouse, a barrel sauna in the garden is a feature people photograph and talk about. Provide towels, drinking water and clear safety instructions, and check local rules for guest use before you begin.

Seasonal habits

In winter, clear a path through the snow and keep logs dry. In summer, use the cabin with the door open.

Permission

National park areas have rules. Check with the Cēsis municipality.
